  • Disappointing

    I’ve been playing the guitar on & off for 49 years, & decided to learn music theory properly. A lot of stuff I do is instinctive & by ear. This book does throw you totally in the deep end by chapter 2! I’ve had to search terms so many terms to understand what is going on. A novice will really struggle with this & have to do a lot of peripheral reading. There’s no guide to practicing & developing lessons & following things through. e.g. explains traids in one scale, that’s it, on the the next topic. As the previous reviewer says the links don't work (same in Ukulele for Dummies, awful). A very cold sterile guide to guitar theory. I’m also starting to find a lot of errors, & having to ‘search’ for corrections. About to give up on it.
  • Poor use of iBook features

    This is not a bad book. It's subject matter is comprehensive and well explained. What is really frustrating is its complete lack of integration with iBooks. Yes you can turn pages, enlarge fonts etc. but iBooks is a cleaver multimedia App allowing for the integration of sound and video so why why why do you have to leave iBooks and go to the Dummies website to play the important guitar sound clips. Come on "Dummies" time to catch up with the real world!
